OSB (oriented strand board) are natural wood boards with increased strength indicators, stable dimensions, easy to process, with relatively good moisture resistance parameters and versatile application. OSB is a particularly popular material in construction – in floor, wall and roof constructions.
OSB is made from chipped chips of various shapes, thicknesses and lengths. Fresh, undried logs (mainly softwood) are used for boards Chips are dried, treated with binders, laid out in a certain structure and compressed at high temperature. Chips are arranged or oriented in three or five layers. In the upper layer of the plate, the chips are oriented in the direction of its length or width, and in the middle layer – perpendicular to the direction of the chips of the upper layer. Such an arrangement of chips creates an even distribution of the strength and hardness of the plate both in the longitudinal and transverse directions. OSB boards can be sanded – with a smooth surface and unsanded – with unevenness caused by chips.
